Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead
The Heritage Gala is a fundraising event for the museum held in a festive tent on the Pound House grounds just as spring begins to gracefully appear. This elegant evening includes tasteful libations and a tantalizing buffet presented by a variety of Hill Country chefs.
Spirited live and silent auctions are followed by after-dinner dancing to swing and country favorites offered by one of the best swing bands in the area. The Dripping Springs community really enjoys coming out to this festive evening to support the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead as it promotes and preserves Dripping Springs area history and ensures that it continues to thrive at the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead.
Your $100 Gala ticket provides you admission to An Elegant Evening in Old Tejas with appetizers, pre-dinner drinks featuring our signature Poundtini by Dripping Springs Vodka, beautiful flamenco guitar music, delicious dinner catered by the best local area restaurants, live music for dancing, and the opportunity to bid on wonderful items through the silent and live auctions. Seating is limited and tickets are going fast.

Our 2014 Auction Chairs:
Our Auction Chairs this year are Karen and Dewey Gonsoulin. They are both native Texans, with Karen having grown up in Dallas, and Dewey being originally from Beaumont. They have three children: Dewey, class of 2015; Emily, a freshman at St. Agnes Academy; and Robert, a 5th grader at Presbyterian School. Since their son entered Strake Jesuit in the fall of 2011, Karen has been actively involved with the Strake Jesuit community, serving two years on the Booster Club and most recently co-chairing the 2013 Spring Fling. Dewey is a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and currently serves on its Management Committee. They both are strong advocates for the school’s mission of raising “Men for Others”. Karen and Dewey are extremely honored to have been asked to chair the 2014 Auction. It is their desire that this year’s auction gala be one in which the entire Strake Jesuit community can come together and celebrate our wonderful school. They have chosen “An Evening under the Texas Sky” as the theme, honoring the elegance of our great State of Texas, while celebrating the students, faculty, staff and volunteers that are the “stars” of Strake Jesuit. They hope that everyone will plan on attending what promises to be an enjoyable event.

Over 700,000 soldiers have been killed or disabled in the military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan–Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. These service members’ families exceed the national average of 2.5 dependents per household. As of January 1, 2012, over one million dependents have been adversely affected by multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 87% of the dependents affected by the recent wars do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. While the federal government provides some support for these families, it cannot succeed alone without proactive civilian organizations to assist.
The need is great, and, to paraphrase the words of Patrick Henry, their battle is ours. As Americans, we feel a collective duty to honor those who have sacrificed by serving the families they leave behind. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional and USGA member. A Major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq. After returning from his second tour, Major Rooney witnessed a profound situation that drove him to create the Folds of Honor Foundation.
