Strake Jesuit College Prep GALA – Houston, TX
2014 Annual gala – “Under the Texas Sky”
Mark your calendars now for Saturday, April 12 for the 2014 Strake Jesuit Auction – Under the Texas Sky.
Our 2014 Auction Chairs:
Our Auction Chairs this year are Karen and Dewey Gonsoulin. They are both native Texans, with Karen having grown up in Dallas, and Dewey being originally from Beaumont. They have three children: Dewey, class of 2015; Emily, a freshman at St. Agnes Academy; and Robert, a 5th grader at Presbyterian School. Since their son entered Strake Jesuit in the fall of 2011, Karen has been actively involved with the Strake Jesuit community, serving two years on the Booster Club and most recently co-chairing the 2013 Spring Fling. Dewey is a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and currently serves on its Management Committee. They both are strong advocates for the school’s mission of raising “Men for Others”. Karen and Dewey are extremely honored to have been asked to chair the 2014 Auction. It is their desire that this year’s auction gala be one in which the entire Strake Jesuit community can come together and celebrate our wonderful school. They have chosen “An Evening under the Texas Sky” as the theme, honoring the elegance of our great State of Texas, while celebrating the students, faculty, staff and volunteers that are the “stars” of Strake Jesuit. They hope that everyone will plan on attending what promises to be an enjoyable event.

FOLDS OF HONOR – CHARITY CLASSIC
The UT Golf Club
Friday, November 15th
6:00 pm: Tailgate Party
Music by The Night Owls
Dinner & Live Auction 7 pm.
Over 700,000 soldiers have been killed or disabled in the military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan–Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. These service members’ families exceed the national average of 2.5 dependents per household. As of January 1, 2012, over one million dependents have been adversely affected by multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 87% of the dependents affected by the recent wars do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance. While the federal government provides some support for these families, it cannot succeed alone without proactive civilian organizations to assist.
The need is great, and, to paraphrase the words of Patrick Henry, their battle is ours. As Americans, we feel a collective duty to honor those who have sacrificed by serving the families they leave behind. The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 by Major Dan Rooney, a former F-16 pilot, golf course owner, PGA Professional and USGA member. A Major in the Air National Guard and a decorated military aviator, Rooney has served three combat tours in Iraq. After returning from his second tour, Major Rooney witnessed a profound situation that drove him to create the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Heart-to-Heart Gala
3rd Annual HEART TO HEART GALA benefiting Sacred Heart Community Clinic – Round Rock, TX
This year’s theme is: Let’s BOND at the Casino Royale!
We have an exciting night planned at the Westin Hotel at the Domain.
Doing Unto Others . . . Right here in our own backyard (VIDEO).
The Heart to Heart Gala began out of a desire to help the Sacred Heart Community Clinic, a newly-created free health care clinic. Friends Karen Halsema and Amber Schmitt were impressed by the clinic and what it had to offer our community. Amber suggested that they plan a Gala to benefit the Clinic. “I liked the idea of a Gala,” said Karen. “It will not only raise money, but will increase community awareness of the clinic, which will positively impact future support for the clinic.”
Literally hundreds of community members stepped forward to help plan the event, sponsor the event and donate their time and talents. All of this good effort and generosity resulted in an amazingly successful, sold out 2012 Inaugural Gala. The money raised each year from these Galas goes directly to the Clinic and is used to hire medical staff, expand their services and help more people in our community.
Please join us at this year’s Gala and make a difference right here in our own backyard. The theme “Casino Royale” sets the stage for a wonderful evening of dinner, musical entertainment, and casino games at The Westin in the Domain. Tickets are $100 per person. Table sponsorships are available for $1,200 and other sponsorships are available as well (check out the sponsors tab of this web site). Tickets can be purchased by emailing HearttoHeartGala@gmail.com. Sponsorships and donations for our auction are also needed
